Three Golden Snails

Gold paint on dark blue, hand made Japanese paper , rice paper, 20” x 30”, 2018.

Laurie M. saw three different golden snails all facing east, each in a different position after meditating early in the morning inside the fog filled temple at a home-stay in Bali, Indonesia. Snail number one was extended out of its shell, on the ground as Laurie M. was about to exit the temple. Snail number two in front of her and at her feet and partly out of its shell as she was walking on the path to her room. A different snail, number three, closer to her room and completely retracted inside of its shell, all pointing east on the full moon ceremony day. The appearance of these three snails on the full moon ceremony day considered good luck in Indonesia.
